Congratulations to all Amanah Saham Bumiputera (ASB) investors. The ASB income distribution is actually 5.5%. But with a bonus of 0.25%, the total distribution comes to 5.75%.
What you’ll see on the statement
If your total savings is RM 10,000 from 1 January 2024 to 31 December 2024, you will see 2 lines on the statement:
| Item | Amount (RM) |
| Income Distribution | RM 550 |
| Bonus | RM 25 |
| Total | RM 575 |
Is there a limit on the bonus?
As of writing, no bonus limit has been set. You get the full bonus based on your lowest monthly balance across the year.
In the 2022 distribution year, the extra 0.5% bonus was limited to the first 30,000 units only.
Just took ASB Financing at the end of 2024
You earn income distribution based on the lowest monthly balance. So even if your financing was first credited on 1 December 2024, you earn a distribution on this formula:
RM 200,000 x 5.75% / 12 x 1 = RM 958.33
If the financing was credited from 1 November 2024, the income is around RM 1916.67
Is ASB financing still worth continuing?
It depends on the income distribution announced in 2025 (paid in 2026). That will decide whether ASB financing is still worth subscribing to.
For investors who invested through financing for all of 2024, it was well worth it.
Is ASB still worth it compared with a Fixed Deposit account?
Yes. ASB is still worth more than a bank fixed deposit account.
That is against an average 12-month fixed deposit rate of only 2.64%.

Can the income distribution be withdrawn?
Yes, it can be withdrawn from 1 January 2025 through the MyASNB app. Note the RM 2,000 limit still applies to withdrawals through MyASNB.

Even with no cash investment, if you invest in ASB through financing only, the dividend can still be withdrawn — the dividend earned is credited as Cash Investment.
You should consider leaving the savings and the income in place for the compounding benefit.
Compounding is dividends paid on dividends. Leave the dividends in the account to earn more dividends in the years ahead.
ASB income distribution is slightly less than unit trust returns
Unit trusts may well come out higher, especially equity-focused funds in 2024.
If you invest in unit trusts with a high risk profile, good for you. You may have earned more through the rising price per unit and the dividend distribution.
But stay aware of market sentiment and conditions so the risk is managed well.
Unlike ASB, the price per unit of a unit trust stays fixed at RM 1.00. So you can invest calmly and fully, because the ASB unit price is stable.
High Risk, High Return.
Low Risk, Low Return.
Interested in subscribing to Unit Trust. Where can I buy?
You can buy Unit Trust through MyASNB by choosing the ASN fund. MyASNB offers a range of funds.
No need to hunt for an agent and pay a big fee.
Conclusion
Congratulations once again to those investing through ASB. This is the highest ASB income distribution in 5 years.
Keep topping up your ASB until it is full, while leaving the savings and distribution you receive. May your savings goals be reached.
