Selangor Mobility. Demand Responsive Transit (DRT).

I used the Mobi app to get from 1 Utama (Bandar Utama) to Jaya Shopping Mall (Petaling Jaya). The fare is flat at RM 2 per person. The van was clean and comfortable. Overall, a very good initiative from the Selangor State Government.

Coverage area

As of this writing, there are four coverage areas:

1. Ara Damansara
2. Bandar Utama
3. Sungai Buloh
4. Subang Jaya

None of the coverage areas crosses into another one. The service is meant to solve the last leg of the trip, the part you still have to cover after using public transport like the LRT and MRT.

So if you’re in Ara Damansara, you cannot reach Subang Jaya in one trip. You have to take other public transport into the Subang Jaya zone first, and only then book the DRT again.

Fare

Flat fare of RM 2 per person per trip. You can pay through the Mobi app, in cash, or with an e-wallet. For e-wallet payment, scan the QR code inside the van.

Operating hours

As far as I was told, the service runs from 6 am to 10 pm, every day.

How to book

Just download the Mobi app (Play Store/App Store) and book. The experience is the same as booking a Grab Car.

My view: this is a good initiative. It solves the problem public transport users have — the long walk from the MRT/LRT back to the house.

Which means it’s good news for anyone who lives far from an MRT/LRT. No more walking, no more taking a motorcycle or car just to reach the station.

Let’s use public transport.
