I’ve ridden Honda’s NSS 250 (Forza) for a month. This bike has been to a lot of places. The toughest was Masbro Hidden Village, Lenggong, Perak. Total distance so far: 4,800km. Up to this point, it’s a fun bike to ride.
CVT
I rode a Honda ADV 160 before switching to the NSS 250. On the ADV 160, the CVT parts that failed fastest were the slider (most often) and the roller. Maybe because I usually ride two-up, with a combined weight around 110kg.
4,800km on the NSS 250 and no roller or slider issue yet. Even after the ride to Masbro Hidden Village, the belt, slider and roller are all still fine. The CVT doesn’t rattle the way the ADV 160 usually does on a long-distance ride.
There’s a comfortable waiting area while the bike is checked @BigWing Damansara.
Top speed
Top speed is 155km/h, on a steep downhill with the throttle wide open. The easy speed is around 110km/h to 120km/h.
Tyre performance
Stock tyres are fine for normal riding that isn’t aggressive.
Brakes
I once had the bike in front of me brake suddenly at the traffic lights near Subang Airport. Sudden braking, but the bike didn’t slide.
Fuel consumption
A full tank of RON 95 gets you from Bandar Sekinchan to the end of the WCE at Changkat Jering. So no problem at all even with no stop, R&R or petrol station along the highway.
From Sungai Besi to Cafe In The Farm (Melaka) needs only one fill.
From Subang Airport heading north on the North-South Expressway, fill up at R&R Simpang Pulai. Still 2 bars of fuel left.
By the meter, average consumption is around 29km per litre (of course it depends on how you ride).
Overall
The NSS 250 is an OK scooter. If you’re buying, buy from Honda BigWing Damansara (Fast Bikes).
Even though the NSS 250 was the smallest bike on the Melaka ride, Alhamdulillah it wasn’t slow. The ride finished 1 hour ahead of the itinerary!
